Car bomb in Madrid
The story of exactly four years ago, on 9 February 2005, repeated itself today. And almost at the same place, at the Campo de las Naciones in Madrid. This morning at nine o'clock detonated a car bomb outside the company Grupo Ferrovial headquarters.
Spanish Red Cross and Fire Brigade received a warning before the attack, and thankfully it went better today than four years ago when 40 people were injured. Now arose only major property damage and traffic chaos in the morning rush hour as part of one of the ring roads around Madrid, M40, was forced to shut down. According to radio station Cadena SER that triggered the bomb is not in its entirety, had such been the case had it gone even worse.
The explosion occurred shortly after the Supreme Court prevented two Basque parties from participating in upcoming regional elections and the bomb is believed to have been a direct reaction to the verdict.
This is the second bomb attack carried out by ETA this year. The first occurred on January 16 outside a television station in Guipúzcoa, Basque Country.
